Merstham Dementia Action Alliance
Merstham is a village in the borough of Reigate & Banstead in Surrey.
With the demographics of an ageing population, there is a very real and potential risk of people being socially isolated within the local community. The Merstham Local Dementia Action Alliance (LDAA) aims to support the diverse people affected by dementia and raise the profile of dementia issues within the borough.
The number of people estimated to have dementia in Surrey is over 16,000, more locally in Reigate & Banstead it is around 2,000.
Merstham LDAA assists in moving local organisations towards and creating a fully integrated and inclusive Dementia Friendly Community, where people living with, and affected by dementia are enabled to live well, and feel a valued part of their local community.
The Merstham DAA has identified the following priority areas
- Raise awareness through Dementia Friends training
- Research local need
- Actively support Dementia Awareness Week with local activities and events
- To support the local faith community to explore the potential of a dementia service
Meetings are held every two months
