Full day Networking Forum for Arts Facilitators for Early Stage Dementia

ON Friday, 1 June, registration from 10 AM for 10.30 AM start

AT Park Theatre, Clifton Terrace, Finsbury Park, London N4 3JP.

a4dChaired by Dementia Pathfinders trainer Aubrey Maasdorp, the emphasis will be on the practical aspects of arts workshops for dementia – from the perspective both of facilitators and participants living with dementia.  The day will include talks, roundtable discussions, and Q&A with breakout Arts Workshops planned over two sessions in the afternoon in Bibliotherapy, Dance, Drama and Music

Places at each workshop will be limited and priority will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Artists, facilitators, learning officers and managers will all be welcome.

Speakers include:

  • Polly Wright, founder and Artistic Director of The Hearth Centre, set up in 2003 as a centre for Health, Education and the Humanities with Art at the Heart.  Polly is a theatre director, performer, facilitator, writer, lecturer, and public speaker and has written and produced eight plays on mental health.
  • Barbara Stephens, Chief Executive of Dementia Pathfinders.  Inspired by personal experiences with dementia, Barbara Stephens has committed to supporting people living with dementias and their families throughout her life and career. Dementia Pathfinders is a social enterprise delivering education, learning, support and care for people living with and supporting dementia, including early onset. Barbara is also a Caregiver-in-Chief at Unforgettable. 
  • Lori Hayden, A4D Trustee and family carer.  After a successful career running her own public relations agency, Lori retired to care for her husband John, following his diagnosis of a rare form of Alzheimer's, Posterior Cortex Atrophy. A passionate believer in the value of arts for people living with dementia, Lori speaks of her own experience with John.
