York Older People’s Assembly
YOPA is a small organisation. It is an umbrella body embracing both individual members and organisations representing older people in the City including Age Uk, York Blind & Partially Sighted Society, as affiliated members. Its main objectives are to highlight policy issues affecting older people and to represent them in different ways including consultation forums established by statutory bodies. Dialogue with older people is maintained by regular Open Meetings and a Newsletter. The Assembly also gets involved in particular projects in the City that affect older people – one example is the major review of Elderly Person’s Homes. Finally YOPA organises on an annual basis the 50+ Festival which takes place over a period of 10 days and also a major Information Fair focussed on older people which is held annually in the centre of York.

York St John University
York St John University is a civic university with a strong focus on York and the immediate region. It makes a significant contribution to York’s businesses, schools and faith groups, health, well-being and cultural life. The University works in partnership with City of York Council including delivering service improvement programmes in social care. It works with businesses and professional service providers providing training and development programmes. The University also works in partnership with the NHS Trust providing a range of continuing professional development programmes. More than 300 York residents attend the exercise and fitness classes held at the University each week – this includes groups for those with dementia. The University works across faith groups in York and the region strengthening understanding and social cohesion. Its Ebor public lectures, in partnership with York Minster, aim to promote dialogue and insights from different faiths on matters of social concern and public policy.

Yorkshire & Humber Strategic Clinical Networks & Senate
Strategic Clinical Networks (SCNs) are an integral part of the new NHS England structure. Their objectives are to support delivery of the improvements in quality of care described in the NHS Outcomes Framework. Yorkshire Children’s Centre
Yorkshire Children’s Centre, based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire serves communities locally and regionally in supporting children, young people, families, adults at risk and older people in need. Focusing on early intervention, preventative approaches and support strategies, through a range of programmes. Our goal is simple, to improve the lives of children, young people, families and older people throughout the UK, currently focused on Yorkshire. Our work with older people centres around reducing social isolation through ‘Its only Me’ befriending and Travel Companions, we will also be delivering a new partnership project Dementia Reading Friends in Kirklees. We host three lunch clubs a week for the over 55’s. We work with children and young people in several of our programmes, Safety in the Home, Safety Rangers, Kirklees and National Healthy Start Vitamin Scheme. We deliver interventions and training for families going through separation as well as being a child contact centre. The children and families programme also runs a nationally accredited Domestic Violence perpetrator programme. Our education programmes provide a pupil referral unit for 14 to 16 year olds at Brian Jackson College and we run various programmes for 16 to 19year olds such as New Beginnings, Step Up, Creative Futures and Talent Match. We have three main centres two in Huddersfield and Batley and have recently opened premises in Doncaster, we have permanent tenants and room hire availability. National Children’s Centre Enterprises is our commercial arm offering a range of services as well as our Pass It On shops. Volunteers are key to Yorkshire Children’s Centre and they are supported by the volunteer coordinator and programme leads.

Yorkshire Cricket
Yorkshire Cricket is made up of three organisations; Yorkshire County Cricket Club (YCCC), the Yorkshire Cricket Board (YCB) and the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation (YCF). Yorkshire Dance
Yorkshire Dance is a charity which champions the value of dance and its development in Yorkshire. We do so by raising standards, increasing knowledge and understanding and by fostering creativity and innovation. We create opportunities for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to see, make and take part in high quality dance. We create opportunities for emerging and established artists and practitioners to research, create and present new contemporary work. We create opportunities for people to experience dance by working with partners in local authorities and the arts, in health and in sport. Our building base is in Leeds city centre where we house three dance studios, two meeting spaces, our administration office and we also let out eleven offices to other creative businesses.

Yorkshire Move Manager
At the Yorkshire Move Manager we provide specialist support for older people (55+) who wish to move home. We also provide assistance to help older clients create a safer living environment in their current home, through tackling hoarding issues and adaptations. As an experienced, trained and accredited Senior Move Manager, I offer an invaluable resource during a stressful time, supporting clients with a range of conditions including Dementia, through the entire moving home process. I am the first UK member of the National Association of Senior Move Managers. I have undertaken training on topics including dementia, memory, ethics, safeguarding and guiding clients to achieve the best in later life. Each client has different needs - I provide a package of bespoke support, delivered on a 121 basis, designed to ensure they remain in full control of their life and achieve the outcomes they desire.

Yorkshire Sculpture Park
Yorkshire Sculpture Park seeks to provide a centre of international, national and regional importance for the production, exhibition and appreciation of modern and contemporary sculpture. The organisation has grown over the last 35 years: from humble beginnings with £1,000 to fund a small exhibition of 31 sculptures, to now contribute £5 million to the local economy and is responsible for five indoor galleries set in 500 acres of the 18th century-designed Bretton Estate, reunited in recent years under YSP’s stewardship. Young at Heart Club
We provide day services for older lonely people in our community, three days a week at Uplowman and Burlescombe and established in 2014. We aim to relieve the feeling of isolation and loneliness for the over 60’s. We offer our service to residents in Mid Devon and West Somerset. The club provides somewhere for older people, of every background, to socialise with people of the same age group in safe, comfortable surroundings. Members enjoy a nutritional two course lunch and the activities are stimulating and fun which improves their well-being and self-confidence. Our club currently has 50 attendances per week, some with early on-set dementia and we are fortunate to have qualified volunteers to assist and ensure the members are well looked after throughout the day.
