Act on Dementia CIC
Act on dementia cic provides advice, information and emotional support to family carers who support people living with dementia in Solihull. Our aim is that family carers will never be left feeling unsupported and adrift, in what feels like the tornado of dementia. We offer peer support from other trained family carers, who know whats needed and the emotional and physical exhaustion that drains a persons spirit caring long term for people with dementia. Knowledge building amongst family carers helps on so many levels, and spills out into the community. We encourage working in partnership with others, integration on all levels is the best way to work, we should all share best practice, and come together to brain storm and innovate. We are all spokes in a bigger wheel.

Active Devon
Active Devon: is a not for profit organisation, that operates across Devon. We create, promote and develop opportunities for people, of all ages, to lead an active lifestyle. Our Vision: Everyone in Devon active for life. How Active Devon operates: Active Devon is the body that is recognised as the County Sports Partnership (CSP) in Devon. We are one of a network of 44 CSP's in England (there is an organisation, like us, in every county in England). Each of the CSPs are supported by Sport England, the government agency responsible for the nation's participation in activity and sport. In Devon, nearly half of all people are not active enough for good health. This is similar to the national statistics. Active Devon is focussed on supporting the 43% of the population not currently reaching the Chief Medical Officer's (CMO's) recommended weekly amount of physical activity , to enable them to do so. Much of our work is about bringing organisations together to develop and promote projects that support people to become active in their local communities. Examples of this are: 'Walking for Health': a health walk group set up from a local GP practice for people with restricted mobility. Or 'Active Mums': working with Children's centres and local Primary Schools to support mums to become leaders of and participants in, informal activity groups. There are inequalities in those who are accessing regular activity. Our work aims to support those who find it harder to be regularly active e.g. women and girls, disabled people, BME groups, those who are isolated-this is not an exhaustive list. Why is our work important: Leading a regular active lifestyle has many hugely positive impacts for people's physical and psychological wellbeing. There is compelling evidence demonstrating that leading an active lifestyle can reduce the likelihood of acquiring the most significant long term health conditions by up to 50%. Alongside individual benefits are the community and population level impacts-bringing communities together, creating safe, inclusive communities and effecting positive economic impact.

Activeregen - Rotherham
Developing healthier lifestyles, that include sport and physical activity can significantly improve the lives of people within the South Yorkshire… Active Regen provides physical activity and sports programmes for people of all ages from 5 years to older frailer adults. We hope everyone who takes part in an Active Regen programme learns to enjoy sport and physical activity and this becomes a part of their daily lives. We encourage children, young people and adults to try new sports and physical activities and to become involved not only as participants but as coaches, referees or umpires as either a volunteer or as a paid member of the team. Becoming more active can result in improvements in health. Along with the health benefits of participating in sport on a regular basis we believe that children and young people can learn important life skills such as respect, self-discipline, fair play and how to deal with winning and losing, success and disappointment. These core values and operating principles are fundamental to the way that we work at Active Regen • We have a variety of sessions available for adults within the Rotherham area Monday: Kiveton Village Hall – 10am to 12 noon • Weds: The Lanes Community Centre, Herringthorpe – 1.30pm to 3.30pm • Thursday: Rawmarsh Service centre (inside the library) – 10am to 12 noon • Friday: Maltby Edward Dunn Building – 10am to 12 noon
