What's Happening in East Grinstead

We are a community Facebook group for East Grinstead and the surrounding area. We provide members with news, events and details of what's going on in East Grinstead. Much of the content is provided and shared by the community. We have over 9,000 members and this continues to grow meaning we have a huge reach in the area. We would be happy to promote any activities, events and services for those living with dementia and their families, friends and/or carers. We are also planning to offer dementia awareness sessions for the people of East Grinstead. Our overall aim is to help East Grinstead become a more dementia friendly town.

1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We are looking to promote any local activities, events and services for those living with dementia and their families, friends and carers.  We would also like to run some dementia awareness sessions in the community to increase the understanding of dementia in East Grinstead and the surrounding area.   This will make East Grinstead a more supportive community for those living with dementia.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

We need those providing local activities, events and services to forward them to us on a regular basis so we can promote them.   They could also direct us to a calendar of events or a website where we can pick up the information.

We also need some local Dementia Champions to help us with the dementia awareness sessions.
