1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

As an organisation, CYCALL will offer a truly inclusive leisure activity for people living with Dementia. Adapted cycling involves the participants family, friends or carers. CYCALL also offers a 'buddy rider' for anyone who has found themselves socially isolated due to Dementia. CYCALL volunteers have all become Dementia Friends which will enable them to treat all participants with kindness, dignity and respect. CYCALL rides will promote social interaction, taking time to share stories and form meaningful friendships. This will allow all involved with Dementia Friendly CYCALL rides to develop a new and meaningful activity and create a social network in a safe and supported environment. CYCALL rides are about more than just the cycling.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

CYCALL's biggest challenge to delivering these outcomes is Financial. As an organisation CYCALL is determined to provide our adapted cycling sessions for free. This has implications for funding, however the support of local businesses and the local community is making this possible.
