Aqua Vitae Spa is a Boutique Leisure Club and have a gym, pool, thermal suite and a full range of classes along with a members social area called the juice Bar. Our customer base is members, Spa days and Hotel guests.

1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

Aqua Vitae could help in a number of ways by

Creating a safe place for people to come, which offers a variety of services while they are here. From quite times to work out in the gym or go for a swim in the pool. Arranging an afternoon where we can host a memory cafe in the Juice bar so that people can socialise together.  Be a place of restbite for their carers and potentially offer a Dementia Dance fitness class.

We would also be happy to offer a discounted membership to people refered from Tynedale Dementia Action alliance.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

 

Staff Training and understanding, Rolling awareness out across the whole hotel, Increasing exsisting members understanding of dementia and raising their awareness, balancing the needs of all types of customers from members, to spa days etc.  

2. Actions

  • To improve our understand of Dementia and increase awareness of our members.

    The team to become dementia Friendly so that they can support exsiting and new members with dementia. Once trained we will then raise awareness within our membership so that we can create a safe place for people to come.

    Offer discounted membership so that we can create a safe haven where people can socialise.  We will implement Dementia friendly swimming and gym times during quiet periods.

    To arrange an afternoon where people with dementia and their carers can socialise together and possibly work with Tynedale allience to provide them with more information
