1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We are committed to the Dementia Action Alliance and National Dementia Declaration because we understand people living with Dementia affects hundreds of thousands of people, the figures continue to rise. Dementia affects people from all walks of life, whether it be ourselves, a relative a friend or another connection. Care homes are in a unique position to not only raise awareness, but upskill people's understanding of the disease. BC & G Care Homes are dedicated to providing support, guidance and training to people within our community. All in the name of making our community a better one, that is understanding and inclusive. 

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

We challenge ourselves to entice our community groups, businesses and individuals to become a part of our commitment. We anticipate challenges in people’s understanding and awareness of dementia. We aim to facilitate a greater understanding in our town. We aim to break down the barriers we may face and empower people to do the same.

2. Actions

  • BC & G Care Homes will be building innovative community partnerships, by providing information and guidance to our local community.

    We aim to do this by facilitating Dementia Friends workshops on a quarterly basis which is open to the public. We will invite our community connections to attend these sessions to help individuals, businesses and groups to improve understanding and awareness

  • BC & G Care Homes will involve it's community to enrich the lives of the people in our care. We will extend this to the wider community as the programme moves forward.

    BC & G Care Homes will extend it's reach in the community to enable our residents to experience fulfilling and exciting activity. We will entice our community to be more inclusive and enable our residents to have better access to community services, projects and initiatives. We will focus on providing more opportunities for our residents, in line with their choices and enable them to take risks regardless of their diagnosis. BC & G Care Homes will encourage our residents to push 'boundaries' and contribute to our community in various ways.

  • BC & G Care Homes aims to facilitate other organisations and support groups to provide advice, guidance and education to help people living with and caring for others with dementia.

    BC & G Care Homes aims to facilitate this initiative by offering our expertise in Social Care, enabling amongst others, support groups, training providers, legal and financial sector businesses to help people living with dementia to make informed decisions, about how they wish to live their lives.
