1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

With so many local families (including some of our regular customers) affected by dementia, being a DAA member feels like the right thing to do. Our actions will be shaped by the discussions of the Dementia-Friendly Newport Group and advice from Alzheimer’s Society.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

We anticipate some logistical challenges from time to time, but hope our enthusiasm for helping families affected by dementia will see us through.

2. Actions

  • All staff to become Dementia Friends

Company owner Marie Phillips and the whole team to go online and complete the Dementia Friends session.

  • Support the Dementia-Friendly Newport Group and encourage others to do so.

We will spread the word about the Dementia-Friendly Newport Group and endeavor to attend meetings at the Cottage Care Centre. We will place leaflets on our front counter and place posters in our window, promoting the local group, the Alzheimer’s Society, and the DAA.
