1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We will encourage all councillors and staff members to attend a Dementia Friends session.  We have also appointed Cllr Duncan Fletcher to attend the local Dementia Friendly Community Steering group.

We will also encourage and support the delivery of public Dementia Friends sessions within the community and publicise support groups for people with dementia or their carers, in our newsletter, as well as other articles to inform people about dementia.

We are working to encourage more leisure facilities in the local area to become dementia friendly.

we are planning to consult with local people affected by dementia as part of producing our Neighbourhood Plan.

We will be setting up a community centre building in summer 2019 and our aim is for this building to become a 'Safe Place'.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

The challenge will be to keep this issue high in people's minds and not become complacent, to keep consulting local residents that are affected and making or influencing change.
