1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

Waitrose as a partnership are engaging their partners in Dementia Friends. With information sessions and through this they are becoming Dementia Friends. As an example a member of the Newmarket store is a  member of the Newmarket Dementia Action Alliance steering group.

We will review effectiveness by asking for feedback from customers. Discuss with staff.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

To protect the Waitrose and John Lewis brand and the consistency of presentation across our branches, we are limited in changes we can make to the physical appearance of our branch.

2. Actions

  • Work in partnership with Newmarket DAA

Waitrose Newmarket will work with the Newmarket Dementia Action Alliance to support Newmarket to become a dementia friendly community and encourage other organisations to attend Dementia Friends sessions and sign up to the Dementia Action Alliance.
