Thorne Segar Solicitors

Firm of solicitors specialising in services for the elderly.

Local Alliances:
Minehead Dementia Action Alliance

1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We want to be a DAA member to support our local community. We specialise in legal services for the elderly and live in the second largest retirement area in the UK. We have a good understanding of capacity and issues facing people who are starting to lose their capacity and those affected (loved ones and relatives). We have already become Dementia Friends and recently did a talk at Minehead Forget-Me-Nots. We have ongoing relationships with the representatives.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

The whole firm is committed to joining the Dementia Action Alliance so we will work together to use our imagination and teamwork to overcome any difficulties. Signage will be an issue due to how our building is set out, however it is something we are aware of the need to deal with. We also need to agree who will send out the appointment reminders.
