1. Action Plan

Our aim is to broaden our children’s understanding of the community around them.  To understand how to make a positive impact in the community in which they live and to have an empathy with those who are going through difficult times. Studies have shown that Dementia patients spending time with children impacts positively on their quality of life, therefore, the children spending time playing familiar games, reading to them and singing with them will benefit both parties.

2. Actions

  • Pupils reading with the clients.

Two afternoons/ morning sessions each month children from our school visit the Dementia Hub to read with the clients. Each month it will be a different year group from Year 1-6. The children will bring a variety of items to read across the year including their reading book, work that they have written and traditional/ classic stories that may be familiar to the clients.
  • Singing in the Community

Each half term for our choir / groups of children to join in and perform within the Sage house choir or singing in the community club.  This may become more frequent as the choir club develops.

  • Fund Raising and Awareness

The School Council Dementia Action Group to raise the awareness of what dementia is and the work that is completed at the dementia Hub.  For the children to then plan and carryout fundraising activities to support the work completed by the hub.
