1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We are based in Kentford, to the east of Newmarket and operate in the town and surrounding villages.

We are trained as dementia friends.

We are also advocates for our clients, so that we will call the relevant authority (family, social services etc), if we believe our client is in a vulnerable situation.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

2. Actions

  • Being Dementia aware

All Driving Miss Daisy Newmarket drivers and staff are Dementia Friends.

  • Work in partnership with Newmarket DAA

Driving Miss Daisy Newmarket will work with the Newmarket Dementia Action Alliance to support Newmarket to become a dementia friendly community and encourage other organisations to attend Dementia Friends sessions and sign up to the Dementia Action Alliance.

    Being implemented
  • Promoting dementia awareness

Driving Miss Daisy Newmarket will display the NDAA window sticker to show it is a member of the NDAA and to demonstrate it is a dementia friendly Company. In addition, our  corporate livery is in dementia-friendly colours and the vehicles are very recognisable to those living with dementia.
