1. Action Plan
1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?
We would seek to promote awareness of dementia issues to our staff so that those living with dementia and their carers feel comfortable and at ease. We would wish to review what we do on a regular basis and endeavour to improve our facilities and our awareness of dementia issues. We would seek to resolve specific problems that may occur with individuals from time to time.
The hotel supports people living with dementia, and the vulnerable, helping them feel supported in the community. We ensure that staff are welcoming, helpful and supportive to all visitors which helps people living with dementia to feel safe.
2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?
None - its basic customer care. Raise awareness of dementia to customers and staff.
Improve our understanding of Dementia
We will arrange for all staff/volunteers to be dementia aware to ensure greater understanding of the condition and how we can help.
