Nancy's Vintage Teashop

Established in 2013, Nancy's Vintage Teashop is Nestled in the heart of Newmarket. The award-winning Nancy's Vintage Teashop is a distinctively quirky venue for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. We offer a delectable range of sandwiches, delicious cakes, freshly baked scones and uniquely blended teas served on eclectic mismatching antique china in a bright setting of patchwork sofas, high-backed dining chairs and bunting sewn by hand. All our food is created on the premises or sourced locally. We are conveniently located for car parking, shopping and the Newmarket Race Course. Our cakes can be made to order and we also provide catering for events such as weddings, corporate functions and funerals. The entire shop is available for private events in the evening. After the ultimate indulgence? Why not dine in our Afternoon Tea Lounge? You can also enjoy our uniquely blended teas at home by purchasing at the teashop.

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

The aim of Nancy's Vintage Teashop is to support people living with dementia to have a sense of belonging and being a valued part of family and community life by providing a safe and supported teashop environment. 

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

Making sure that all staff have a good understanding of the issues surrounding people living with Dementia by attending and cascading training. Helping staff not to make assumptions. To enhance our reputation for providing excellent customer service.

2. Actions

  • Improve our understanding of Dementia

    We will arrange for all staff/volunteers to be dementia aware to ensure greater understanding of the condition and how we can help.

  • Promoting dementia awareness

    Nancy's Vintage Teashop  will display the NDAA window sticker to show it is a member of the NDAA. Also when applicable and appropriate the dementia friendly sticker, to demonstrate it is a dementia friendly business.

    Nancy's Vintage Teashop will work with the Newmarket Dementia Action Alliance to support Newmarket to become a dementia friendly community and encourage other organisations to attend Dementia Friends sessions and sign up to the Dementia Action Alliance.
