1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We are a retailer in the town centre, who provide a service to a whole range of customers. Our staff pride themselves on providing the help and support all our customers need and on many occasions this can include people with special requirements. Our rental service provides that help and support that many people need be it in the store or at home. Through training/awareness sessions we can improve our customers service further and recognise the signs of a customer that may have dementia/vulnerability. We could then use our experience and knowledge to share to the rest of the company. Thus helping other branches of or business to be more aware and improve our service even more. We have so many different options to assist people with dementia/vulnerabilities or disabilities so I am confident that we could help support on many levels.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

I do not see there being any challenges on delivering these outcomes. We already provide a service to the local community and help support customers from all back grounds. This will just help us improve our service even more. Our staff have already agreed to give up their time to attended any training sessions that may be required. Therefore the only thing that would be required would be further awareness training.
