Orpington 1st is the Business Improvement District (BID) for Orpington town centre. It is a not for profit ltd company owned and led by local businesses, established with the aim of making Orpington a better place to work, live and visit.

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?
Managing a collaborative approach for the entire business community. Ensuring full engagement providing contacts training and awareness programmes. Supporting local organisations in achieving dementia awareness and promoting the cause to as wide an audience as possible.

Promote the Business Guide
Promote the business guide to all BID members and support individual actions taken by each business to ensure that customers and their carers living with dementia are welcomed and have the necessary provision of services.- Status:

Continue to fund dementia training programmes to our BID members
We will promote and fund activities during dementia action week and throughout the calendar year.

Enhance customer experience
Provide an excellent customer experience for visitors to the town centre with support for the development of dementia friendly services such as public toilets for the town centre and dementia screenings in the cinema.
Working in partnership with the Shopping centre and local authority, gain agreement for the transfer of leased premises from Orpington1st to the shopping centre to enable new facilities to be built. Fund special screenings at the Odeon Cinema and work with the local team and head office to ensure that they become part of the monthly program.
