St. Vincent De Paul Society Conference

St Vincent de Paul Society is an international Christian Voluntary organisation. Our objective is the alleviation of poverty. In England and Wales there are currently 10,000 voluntary members working for the Society in their local communities. The SVP responds to direct requests for help from individuals and families and to referrals from third parties, as long as the referral has been made with the client's permission. When requested, and only when requested, members visit individuals or families where they are living and assess their needs. SVP members will continue to visit as long as they are needed. The main purpose of our visits is to extend the hand of friendship. More specific practical assistance can be given depending on the nature of the help required and the capacity of the local membership.
