1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We aspire to provide an environment in which people are able to do the things that matter to them. We work in partnership with other local organisations including the Doctor surgery to promote dementia awareness. We will host a Living Well with dementia group on Thursday afternoons, this will be launched on March 1st 2018 as a multi-agency event.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

Our volunteers would benefit from a better understanding of dementia. Communicating the services we offer to the local community in an appropriate manner is a challenge we face with limited volunteer hours available. Costs of altering the library property / furnishings may be prohibitive.

2. Actions

  • Assessment of library for use of those living with dementia

An audit of the library will be undertaken to evaluate the current environment from the perspective of those living with dementia. The results will be recorded and an action plan developed to address issues identified. A person will be allocated responsibility for ensuring that the action plan is followed through in a timely manner.
