1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We would encourage all employees and volunteers to become dementia friends by attending an awareness event to find out what it is like living with dementia and the challenges people face.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

We are a membership organisation with an average age of 83. They all have sight problems and we have also been aware of some members living with dementia. By becoming a dementia friend might give them a better understanding of what it is like living with dementia.

2. Actions

  • Providing staff and volunteers with awareness training

To encourage all staff and volunteers to become dementia friends by attending awareness training.

  • Information provided at our headquarters

We provide information leaflets from organisations specifically supporting people living with dementia and their carers.
