1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We can help by providing support in financial terms on a limited basis to the organisation as a whole. We can also provide limited support to Dementia Clubs given sufficient advance warning as to when it is needed.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

Most of us although we used to live in the area – no longer do. We will try to get our younger members, of which there are few, to get involved in one-off projects as required.

2. Actions

  • Nominate someone to be a Dementia Friends Champion

We have a willing volunteer who could take on this role. At the Rotary District Conference in Stratford in October 2017 we had two people who became Dementia Friends,

  • Promote issues through our website and newsletter

Add details onto our website and then possibly promote this to other Rotary Clubs in the London area. This is an aim of our current District Governor.

  • Making members aware of dementia

Host an information evening on one of our meeting nights to inform our 18 current members about the signs of dementia to be aware of and what we could then do to help.
