Vamos Theatre

Vamos Theatre’s vision is to lead the way in promoting full mask theatre. Working in partnership with a wide variety of venues, professional artists, local authorities, educational institutions and other agencies, we aim to engage people in the creation and presentation of remarkable live theatre that inspires and enriches lives and promotes an understanding of the world we all share. Our mission is to engage people meaningfully with mask theatre.

1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

  • We have been working on a number of projects for several years now building our relationships with people with dementia and their families.  This will continue.
  • Continue consulting and having a dialogue with people living with dementia on all projects that may directly or indirectly relate to them

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

  • Keeping it at the top of our agenda - We are appointing an expert with experience to help us remain focused.

2. Actions

  • Finding Joy, Sharing Joy & LWYE’s

Bring together Arts & dementia into a two year Arts Council funded project which tours the UK built on re- engaging  people with dementia and their families back to the theatre.  Increasing awareness and skills across the theatre industry.

Forging long term relationships between theatre venues and people living with dementia, care providers and family and friends.

Including encouraging and supporting theatres to develop relaxed and dementia friendly performances.  Increasing the number of dementia friends in each venue and to create sustainable change in these arts outlets.
