1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We will treat patients with dementia with the same care and kindness that we show to all of our patients, and we will always consider their wishes and comfort. We will also strive to improve our knowledge of how to help those affected with dementia with any additional needs they might have when they visit our practice.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

A patient may be anxious or confused when they visit the dentist, especially if the surgery is unfamiliar to them.

2. Actions

  • Dementia Friends

We will ensure that many of our employees attend a Dementia Friends session either face to face or online. This will help to increase their knowledge and understanding of dementia so that they feel better equipped to deal with any customers displaying the signs and symptoms of the disease.

    Being implemented
  • Support People with Dementia

We are going to have further talks within the team about how best we can support people with dementia.

  • Raise Awareness

We are going to lend our support to raising awareness about dementia by displaying leaflets, regularly posting about dementia on our social media pages, and by making Alzheimer’s Society our charity of the year.
