1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We provide beauty treatments and a friendly chat and extra time for people living with dementia. We accommodate their needs to make the experience more relax and friendly.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

As the dementia progresses, sometimes becomes more difficult to support people with dementia at our venue, because of all the potential hazards and disturbances (general noise, sounds of equipment, etc)

2. Actions

  • Awareness

Our staff have attended Dementia Friends Session. We understand the changes in a client, when we are aware they have dementia; we can support the family member by offering extra time with the person living with dementia when they come to our business.

  • Advice

We are part of Dementia Friendly Roundhay. We are able to promote their activities with our clientele, by givin leaflets and word of mouth information about services and support for people livign with dementia in our neighbourhood.

    Being implemented
  • Dementia awareness Event

We are planning to do a coffee morning, where people could know a bit more about dementia and the importance of having an inclusive community.
