The Gladstone Arms
We are a local pub serving a wide range of cask ales, craft beers and a simple food menu. We would describe our business as a community pub welcoming locals and new visitors alike. We also have a large beer garden and are dog friendly.

1. Action Plan
1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?
We offer a friendly, calm environment where people can relax and chat while enjoying a drink or a bite to eat. We are open from midday everyday (food served 12-10pm) We enjoy getting to know our customers and encourage staff to interact and uphold the importance of being a big part of the community. We are flexible in our way of working and can adapt to accommodate our customers needs. We have an open plan building all on one level with a carpark next to the pub.
2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?
At peak times we can be very busy - this obviously means an increased noise level and areas such as the bar can become very congested with people. The Garden is closed during winter months. We have a relatively young team who may not have any experience with people with dementia and therefore may lack the knowledge on how best to assist a carer if required.
