All of Us Care Ltd.

All of Us creates places where people have the freedom to do what they want in an environment that feels like home. Our houses are designed as close-knit households. In each household a small group of people with similar needs live together, with support from the team. Everyone in the house lives just as they would at home, whether that’s putting the kettle on for a cup of tea, spending an afternoon painting or settling down for a day on the sofa.

1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We are a forward thinking organisation who will support every community in which we build. We offer information sessions to schools and local people, enabling them to better support people living with dementia in their communities.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

There is a real negativity attached to getting older and more frail, driven by national press and old ideas. We are working to remove barriers, open discussions and demonstrate that older and younger people living with dementia, can live well in a society that is more understanding.

2. Actions

  • We exist so that we can educate, support, teach, learn & develop what is available to people living with dementia today, in terms of care & support

We will continue to work with people so that they understand that people are not a diagnosis, but a person. To show how emotional attachment and emotional interaction with people is key to good care. We will show the care world that something different is possible

  • We will change the face of what is available in care homes today

We are going to show a new type of care home, new type of care worker, new choice in the care sector - one where people live truly purposeful lives, where they can make their own dinner, where choice is really choice and where the people who live and work there, live as equals in a family environment - we will create communities that benefit from having care homes and families who benefit from being involved.

  • We will ask tough questions

When building this new type of care home in communities we will not shy away from questions that others may wish not to ask. We will support with honesty, integrity and knowledge and get to know what each community really needs to support people living with dementia. We will work with the youngest in each community so that over time, the approach and understanding of dementia will change and be positive - always.
