1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We are a hub of the community and provide a safe, accessible environment for people living in Woodthorpe and beyond. We have the opportunity to empower people living with dementia to be part of the local community, knowing that they will be supported when they come to Cox and Co. We can also be a positive role model to other local businesses and encourage them to also become dementia friendly.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

As we are a busy cafe, having time to implement our plans can sometimes be difficult.

2. Actions

  • Dementia Friends

We will aim for all our staff to become Dementia Friends. We will also host the session within the coffee shop and open it to the community so that members of the public can come along to the session if they wish.

  • Provide Accessible Tableware

We will provide red contrast crockery and easy grip cultery to customers who would find this helpful.

    Being implemented, Delivery
  • Supporting Local Organisations

We will support local organisations by displaying posters and advertisements for events and groups. We also have charity tins and directly support local fundraising events.
