1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We aim to make our branch more accessible for people living with dementia in the community to help them stay independant and live well.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

Staffing issues and finding resources.

2. Actions

  • Raise awareness of dementia amongst staff

    Explore the provison of Dementia Friends sessions for staff or look into finding in-store Dementia Champions to share their knowledge with other staff.

  • Raise awarness of dementia and avaliable support services amongst customers

    Host an Alzheimer's Society information stand for visitors to the store to raise awareness of the importance of addressing concerns about memory loss, as well as information about local support for people living with dementia and carers in Merton.

    An employee of the Alzheimer's Society will be there to answer any questions and provide people with further information and advice as required.
