Brent Council - Brent Libraries

There are six libraries in Brent and all libraries are open seven days a week. Our libraries welcome all age group and we stock a huge variety of books, CD books and DVDs for all ages. Our range of fun and enriching activities prove that you're never too young to benefit from your local library. From Bookstart sessions (for the very little ones), to homework clubs, family learning and Chatterbooks clubs, we guarantee that children will find something to both excite and educate them at the same time. In addition to these events, we also offer events for adults such as IT for Beginners, Reading Groups, ESOL and Knitting groups.

1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We would like Brent Libraries to become more dementia-friendly, hence, we're thinking of holding Dementia Friends information sessions for staff members and make staff members aware of resources for people living with dementia.

Alzheimer's Society will assisit us to become more dementia-friendly.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

Training and resources for the staff members.

2. Actions

  • Make staff aware of resources for people living with dementia
