1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

  • Raise awareness of dementia in the community.
  • Occasional fund raising for dementia related charities.

Be a dementia friendly centre

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

  • Make staff and volunteers more aware of dementia as a condition that can potentially affect us all (we have already had dementia awareness training by Zahir Daji of Sharing Voices on 12/2/17);
  • Communicate message about dementia awareness to our congregation;
  • No centre internal signage.
  • Look at contrasting colour for toilet seats (toilet unit currently all white ceramic).

2. Actions

  • Improve internal signage

    Currently there is very limited internal signage within the centre. We have ordered signs which will be white background (same colour as wall) with contrasting clear blue lettering. The letters on the signage will be in a simple font in capitals to aid legibility.

    Action to be completed by 1 June 2017.
