Mayflower Theatre

Mayflower theatre is the largest theatre on the South coast and provides a mixed program of musicals, plays, opera and dance. We are a charity and any surplus that is made is re-invested back into the conservation of our wonderful and historic listed building.

1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

Being a DAA member will allow us to work with other organisations in order to ensure we are providing the most appropriate level of service and to offer relevant innovations in order to make theatre as accessible as possible to those with dementia. Membership will promote an open dialogue with users and help to provide lines of communication locally in order to gain feedback and promote initiatives.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

We currently foresee no difficulties that cannot be worked around/ Creating an offer around specific shows can be challenging with the need of engagement from external producers. The more work we do to prove that there is a need for this king of offer the easier this will become.
