1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We have had personal experience as carers for loved ones affected by dementia and feel we thoroughly understand the challenges that symptoms of dementia can present. Coupled with needing to remain in employment, we can relate to the daily pull on demands from caring for family and the workplace. We understand that offering a professional service carried out with a calm, patient and understanding approach putting the person with dementia, and their carers, at ease whilst they are shopping at VJG Jewellery makes for a first-class shopping experience.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

Trying to balance running a small retail business with the daily demands that this creates and still being able to fully commit to our caring responsibilities.
