1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

A national drive to increase public awareness about dementia and public support for people with dementia is in place, with the rationale for creating dementia friendly communities coming from the voices and experiences of people with and affected by dementia.  Bolton is testing an approach to develop a dementia friendly community in Horwich, with a view to a borough wide roll out.  By being involved and working collaboratively with a range of partners to develop dementia friendly communities, people living with dementia and their carers can continue to engage in day to day life and enjoy the things they do and continue to visit our business / organisation.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

The pilot has recently started and is evolving.  As a member of Bolton Dementia Action Alliance, if we face any challenges we will be able to discuss these with other member of the alliance ensuring a solution focused outcome.
