1. Action Plan
1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?
IM Private Wealth often advise individuals and their families who are living with dementia in either their own homes, supported living arrangements or care homes. We provide a fully holistic approach and tailored advice to our client's situtation. We deliver our advice with empathy and professionalism, supporting our clients to make informed decisions about their individual circumstances and legal needs.
Many individuals across our Private Wealth practice, and Irwin Mitchell LLP, are specialist advisers in legal matters relating to elderly and vulnerable clients holding memberships in specialist groups such as Solicitors for the Elderly, The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and many more.
Locally we offer support to carer groups, local authorities and local charities supporting those living with dementia. For 2017 our Charity of the Year at Chichester is the Tangmere based 'Chichester Dementia Support Group'.
2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?
wEnsuring that our staff members are aware of the basic difficulties faced by someone living with dementia and to educate them as much as possible about these challenges and emotional situations.
To ensure that staff know what local, regional or national support is available to offer additional assistance to that individual, over and above the solution to their legal or business matter.
