1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We offer support for our customers living with dementia by providing a safe and reliable transport service. I also believe the main factor is clear communication is a major point which we focus on providing clear instructions and keeping in contact with families and carers; in doing this to build relations and rapport and also making their day to day life a little  easier so they are comfortable and know they are safe with us. In many cases we have set up accounts so they do not have to worry about paying the driver each time. We also have regular training sessions and refresher courses for all our drivers to keep them updated of all types of customer relations and types.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

Challenges are not something we come across as we are a local taxi firm with majority drivers being with us for a long period of time up to 25 years, we always get the drivers to know our customers and build rapport and go the extra mile to help our customers. Our staff are fully aware of all types of customers they could face and how to overcome and deal with each indiviaul on a personal one to one basis.

  • RAISING STAFF WARENESS

    We will be doing a refresher course for all our drivers to raise awareness this will be done by attending seminars and setting up a meeting with other organisations related to the scheme

     We have set up accounts for clients so they do not have to worry about paying the driver each time. We also have regular training sessions and refresher courses for all our drivers to keep them updated of all types of customer relations and types.
