Bracknell Film Society

BFS is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit community film society that: • encourages interest in all forms of film as a medium for education, • shows publicly a wide range of quality films not readily available locally, • promotes the study and appreciation of films by screenings, discussions, talks from speakers and visits to relevant places of interest.

1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

Bracknell Film Society is committed to becoming an integral part of the DAA though on-going liaison.

Bracknell Film Society will gather audience feedback at dementia-friendly screenings about what has worked best and what requires improvement in terms of environment and content and ensure that changes to the project are implemented.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

Risk: failure to secure sufficient funding for the 12 project screenings and / or to support the legacy screenings.

Mitigation: on-going activity to identify alternative / additional sources of funding and sponsorship to support the dementia-friendly screenings project

Risk: South Hill Park not equipped to deliver on-going programme of dementia-friendly screenings.

Mitigation: ensure on-going liaison with SHP staff to keep informed of needs for dementia-friendly screenings; devise a ‘how to’ pack for SHP management; seek and secure sources of funding and sponsorship to support post-BFS project screenings.
