1. Action Plan
1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?
We pledge to train 50 members of staff as Dementia Friends over the coming 12 months so that, as active members of their local communities, they can play a role in spreading understanding. This supports National Dementia Declaration for England outcomes 5 and 6.
We pledge to spread knowledge and understanding about dementia through our newspapers and websites, helping to reduce fear and spread understanding that it is possible to live well with dementia. We will use appropriate content to signpost readers’ families to suitable services and information. This supports National Dementia Declaration for England outcomes 2 and 4.
We pledge to review the language used in our newspapers and on our websites in the light of the Deep Guide. This supports National Dementia Declaration for England outcomes 5 and 6.
2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?
