1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

Improving awareness in and around the leisure centre’s by training staff and customers as Dementia Friends and providing literature and sign-posting.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

 Developing pool based activities – reviewing existing programmes to see a working model.

2. Actions

  • Dementia Friends Champion

    Train a Dementia Friends Champion in every leisure centre in Southwark, as well as some of the Health Team.

  • Dementia Friends Sessions for staff

    Dementia Friends Champions will train all leisure centre staff as Dementia Friends.  We will ensure that we have literature and sign-posting in all leisure centres.

  • Dementia Friends sessions for customers

     We will run quarterly Dementia Friends sessions for customers, in an open day morning, encouraging those with dementia and carers to also take part in some activities.
