Southall Community Alliance

Southall Community Alliance was established in December 2000 and is an umbrella network of 100+, mainly small and new, community groups working in Southall. The majority of these groups support BMER users and represent the Somali, Indian, Tamil, Afghan communities etc.

Ealing Dementia Action Alliance

1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We are working with the Alzheimer's Society to raise awareness and understanding of dementia issues through events such as Memory Walk, and talks

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

Securing sufficient attendance at events to make them viable, and working with local coommunity groups to talk about dementia

2. Actions

  • Organise a Memory Walk to raise awareness of dementia

    We will organise a memory walk in Southall Park with the local Labour Councillor Penny Jones, the Azheimer's Society, and invite the Mayor to attend also

  • Dementia Friends session

    We will schedule a Dementia Friends session which employees of Southall Community Alliance and the public can attend

  • Displaying information

    We will display leaflets from the Alzheimer's society in our reception area of our building and top them up regularly
