1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We will ensure our Opticians provides both a dementia friendly customer service and environment to encourage people living with dementia to visit our premises and feel comfortable here. This will improve their confidence and well-being and help to reduce the stigma which still exists around the condition.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

The main challenge is the lack of understanding amongst our staff and current customers about the challenges experienced by people living with dementia (and their carers) and what we can do to make life better for everyone.

2. Actions

  • Improve our staff awareness of dementia

Encourage all customer facing staff to attend a Dementia Friends awareness session
