Clarks Shoes - Bracknell

Famous for its children’s shoes and foot-health initiatives, this family-owned business was created when James Clark started making sheepskin slippers from offcuts in his brother’s tannery. Although still headquartered in Somerset, most Clark’s shoes today are made in Vietnam, China and Brazil. The company claims to be the world’s biggest supplier of casual footwear, selling 50m pairs of shoes annually.

1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

Clarks Bracknell are committed to helping people living  with dementia in the community and to showing that they care.

Clarks Bracknell are interested to find out more about how dementia affects people and how this knowledge can be used in both business and personal contexts.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

The Dementia Ambassador will review the action plan periodically to ensure that the plans are being delivered.

  • Quiet Shopping

Allow customers with dementia to book an appointment to shop in store prior to main opening times between 9:00 and 9:30 if required.

This would be beneficial for customers who prefer a quiet shopping experience and also need extra time and attention to make purchasing decisions.
