1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We want to make sure we offer a dementia friendly customer service and environment  at the Lamb Hotel, to encourage people living with dementia to visit our premises and feel comfortable here. This will improve their confidence and well-being and help to reduce the stigma which still exists around the condition

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

Overcoming the lack of understanding amongst our staff and current customers about the challenges experienced by people living with dementia (and their carers) and what we can do to make life better for everyone in the community.

2. Actions

  • Improve our staff awareness of dementia

We are encouraging all our customer facing staff at the Lamb Hotel to complete the on-line Dementia Friends registration and / or attend local Dementia Friends / Customer Awareness sessions and provide access to the booklet ‘How to help people with dementia – A guide for customer-facing staff’
