1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

How will you make sure that people affected by dementia receive the best possible service and help?

By arranging Dementia Friends sessions for staff and volunteers, this will make sure that they have a better understanding of the effects of dementia so that they can support our clients and thie carers.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

Age UK Somerset covers a very large geographical areas and has over 350 volunteers in all different services. The difficulty would be to find both public Dementia Friends session and Champions to cover this area and the volunteers. We will work with Dementia Friendly Communities to be able to complete this work.
