1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

As a care home, we already provide care and support to people with dementia and their families. We aim to make sure that our support is the best it can be.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

There are no challenges – we will be able to do this.

2. Actions

  • Dementia Awareness raising for staff

    Ensure all customer facing staff are dementia aware. Every 3 months we will run a Dementia Workshop for new staff at the beginning of the program – first one will be during April 2016

  • Embed the Concept of ‘Dementia Friendly’ within the business.

    Our regular 3 monthly Dementia Workshop is part of our training program for all new staff

  • Spread Dementia Awareness to the public

    We will also run dementia awareness sessions for our residents that are open to the public and publicised on the Dementia Friends website

  • Appoint a Dementia Champion

    One of our carers will be attending a DF Champions training session in 2016 so that we can deliver our own Friends sessions and continue to offer them to the public

    We will circulate copies of the Quarterly Newsletter by having them displayed in our Foyer
