1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We will provide Dementia Awareness Training for all our staff to enable them to better understand, respect and work with clients who might be dealing with dementia.

Our offices will become dementia friendly.

We seek to have a better understanding of the Mental Capacity Act.

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

Our key challenge will be to understand the scope of advice that we are able to provide as a client has cognition issues or appears to be passing through stages of dementia.

  • to give dementia friend awareness training to all staff

We will arrange for all staff to have dementia friend awareness and to have a deeper understanding of dementia - both at work and at home.

    Being implemented
  • To ensure that our office provides a dementia freindly environment for our clients

We will review our office environment for suitability.

We will also seek feedback from clients - what works and what needs to be changed?

Is our office easy to find and to navigate?

  • to have a better understanding of the Mental Capacity Act

We will seek a better understanding of the Mental Capacity act and how this impacts on the advice that we are able to provide to clients who might have dementia.
