1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We have already had a very good number of our members undergo a Dementia Friends Awareness Session.  We ensure that members are aware of future sessions and ask them to pass information to family and friends. We are involved in Dementia Friendly Week and support Dementia Friendly Action Ilkley  both at their start up meetings and events at Information Events  around Ilkley. We have also provided a small sum from our club fundraising sum to help with publicity. We include our work on Dementia Awareness in our club reports to our Yorkshire Region as well as our Project Reports to our International Federation. We meet at the Clarke Foley a Dementia Friendly building. We have had The Alzhiemers Society as our Charity for the Year 2015/16 and raised almost £1000. We have had speakers from the Alzheimers Society to our Club Meetings to further raise our awareness. We have invited visitors to these to help widen awareness. We have a good profile in our Community and can help to promote DFIA

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

We will strive to ensure that our meetings can cater for any member or guest living with Dementia to feel comfortable at our meetings. This is not so much a problem as a challenge.

We should continue to raise our own awareness and keep up to date with
