1. Action Plan

1. The National Dementia Declaration lists seven outcomes that the DAA are seeking to achieve for people with dementia and their carers. How would you describe your organisation’s role in delivering better outcomes for people with dementia and their carers?

We aim to treat all landlords and tenants with empathy and respect, taking the red tape out of the letting process and simplifying the whole experience to make sure that people feel comfortable and at ease

2. What are the challenges to delivering these outcomes from the perspective of your organisation?

Make sure that all staff and contractors are aware of the issues faced by those living with dementia and their carers and families.

2. Actions

  • Raise Awareness of dementia amongst staff.

    All staff to attend a Dementia Friends awareness session.

    New starters to have dementia awareness included in their induction.

  • Involve a carer to act as support if the tenant requires this.

    The staff will involve the tenants’ carer when dealing with any paperwork, or any financial discussions should this be required by the tenant.

  • The appearance of the office will be clear and organised.

     The office will be tidy and organised to prevent the tenant from and distress and confusion

  • The staff will understand that the tenant may struggle to communicate and so language may be compromised

    The staff will speak clearly to ensure that both parties have clear understanding. They will understand that communication may sometimes be compromised
