1. Action Plan

As a Healthcare Organisation we would like to be able to work together on of some of the issues faced by those who encounter our services and those of our DAA associates. In turn, by joining we would also like to be able to use the forum as a means of listening more closely to the views of those who by nature of theirs or their relative’s condition are more likely to require our services in the future.

These actions will be regularly reviewed as a matter of course by our Trust’s Dementia Steering Group Action Plan.

2. Actions

  • Build/refurbish wards and departments with dementia friendly features in mind

Kings Fund Audit presented to Estates Department. Trust’s plan where any revamp is concerned is to build in Dementia Friendly features but this will only be achieved over time.

  • Music therapy

Camerata Orchestra proposal to be put to Charitable funds and appropriate trial to be agreed.

    Being implemented
  • Increase input from Volunteers.

Volunteer Coordinator appointed. Meeting to be held to discuss value, placement and training of volunteers when recruited.

  • Sign up to John’s Campaign

Approved in principle, however as this is a nationally publicised plan, the Trust must first clarify its final position on open and extended visiting hours before formally signing up.

    Being implemented
  • Comprehensive strategy

Complete a comprehensive Dementia Strategy for the Trust to include input from other stakeholders including DAA members
