1. Action Plan

The Hair Salon embraces people with different needs and caters for them as best we can.  I have a good understanding of how to support the customers who I deal with in my line of hairdressing who have dementia.

2. Actions

  • Supporting people living with dementia

I support people who experience dementia or other conditions that affect their quality of life, by allowing more time, communicating clearly, repeat as often as necessary, communicating with family/carers to support the person all around providing hairdressing services in a way they can access.

  • Establish good standards for people with dementia accessing hairdressing

The salon owner reminds clients that live within the Northfield Centre when their hair appointments are and will also escort them to and from their flat where necessary.

The owner also works with families and carers to set up a tab so a client doesn't have to carry money but their relative can pay at the end of the month so there is no cause to worry about paying on the day.

  • Promote being dementia friendly

I will display the Dementia Friendly Community window stickers to spread awareness and deliver the hairdressing service in a way that is complimentary to each person.
